Alexander B. Jeong
Hon. Alexander B. Jeong is currently a Justice of the Richmond County Supreme Court, Criminal Term of the 13th Judicial District. In 2018, he was appointed Deputy Administrative Judge of the New York Criminal Courts. Judge Jeong was the first AAPI to serve the Unified Court System in this capacity. In that role, he oversaw one of the nation’s busiest courts, has trial jurisdiction over misdemeanors and petty offenses and preliminary jurisdiction over felonies in New York City’s five boroughs. In 2015, he was appointed a judge for the NYS Court of Claims, the first AAPI in NYS to serve in that position.
Prior to his ascension to the bench, he was an Assistant District Attorney in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office for over a decade, his last position as a Bureau Chief overseeing all of Brooklyn Criminal Court. Upon his appointment to the New York City Criminal Court bench in 2005, Judge Jeong joined the Unified Court System. He was reappointed to the Court in 2010 and designated acting Supreme Court Justice in 2012. Judge Jeong also previously served as President of the Asian American Judges Association of New York.
