Johnny Cepada Gogo
The Hon. Johnny Cepeda Gogo is a judge for the Santa Clara County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2019. At the time, he filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Hector E. Ramon (Ret.).
He is a registered Democrat.
Judge Gogo received his B.A. from the University of California, San Diego in 1991. He went on to earn a J.D. from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 1996.
Judge Gogo, whose family originates from Guam, accepted a position as an assistant attorney general with the Office of the Attorney General of Guam in 1997. He held the position until 1998 and returned briefly in 1999. He relocated to California during that same year, at which time, he began working as a deputy district attorney with the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office. In addition to his work at the D.A.'s office, Judge Gogo also served as a volunteer attorney with the Office of the City Attorney in Los Angeles. Judge Gogo left the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office in 2000.
He then joined the Guam law firm of Calvo and Clark LLP, where he practiced for one year.
After returning to California in 2001, Gogo rejoined the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, where he worked as a deputy district attorney until his appointment to the bench.
He served as a mentor for the Office of Career Management and as a keynote speaker for Diversity and Inclusion Day at Santa Clara University School of Law.
Judge Gogo was born in Germany. Due to his father's military service, he traveled extensively during his childhood.
