Diem Tran
Diem Tran is the Deputy General Counsel at the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office. Diem worked as a litigation associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP before becoming a public servant. At the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, she advised the office about new laws, and collaborated with legislators, policymakers, advocates, and other government and community partners to develop criminal justice reforms. She also served as co-director of Prosecutors Against Gun Violence, collaborating with D.A.’s and gun safety advocates across the country.
In Diem’s current position at the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, she is part of D.A. Eric Gonzalez’s Executive team, shaping and implementing the office’s policies and best practices. She advises and trains prosecutors on new laws, develops legal arguments for novel issues arising from new legislation, drafts practice forms and brief content, and provides guidance on various litigation issues, including assisting A.D.A.’s with legal research and motion practice. She is also an active member of the District Attorney’s Association of the State of New York and serves as a Legislative Secretary to the association.
Diem received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she served on the editorial board of the Virginia Law Review.
