Joseb “Joe” Gim
Joseb “Joe” Gim is the Chief of the Kings County District Attorney’s Office Criminal Court Unit, where he oversees Criminal Court operations and trains and mentors new Assistant District Attorneys.
ADA Gim began his career in the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office where he served as the Career Criminals Unit Chief, Chief of the Office’s Crime Strategies Unit, and later Gang Unit Chief. As the Crime Strategies Unit Chief, he oversaw the development and implementation of an advanced case management system that automated, organized, and digitized case data and resources.
Prior to joining the Kings County District Attorney’s Office in December 2022, ADA Gim was an Assistant District Attorney in the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office as a Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Public Corruption Bureau, Deputy Bureau Chief in the Felony Trial Bureau, and Chief of the Hate Crimes Unit.
ADA Gim earned his J.D. from Fordham Law School, which later presented him with the Denny Chin Alumni Award for Excellence in the Legal Profession. He earned his B.A. from George Washington University.
ADA Gim has served as a Co-Chair and Co-Founder of the Prosecutors Committee in the Asian American Bar Association of New York. He has also served as Vice President of the Korean American Lawyer’s Association of Greater New York. As a member of AABANY’s Anti-Asian Hate Task Force he assisted in drafting legislative proposals contained in their report, Endless Tide: The Continuing Struggle to Overcome Anti-Asian Hate in New York. ADA Gim continues to actively engage the immigrant Korean community regarding hate crime awareness and bystander training.
