Finding Your Flow: Harmonize Work and Life [D1]

Description

There are many sayings that speak to the value of time and how it is each individual’s most valuable and limited resource. There is much talk about work-life balance, or work-life harmony, promoting lifestyle choices that allow for individuals to engage in routine non-work activities and reduce time spent working. Nonetheless, working hard and working often continues to be a main focus and indicator for many when it comes to career success when really working efficiently can often bear better results. Moreover, we have heard many colleagues discussing, and there are many articles addressing, that since the shift to more remote work during Covid, the line between work and personal has been blurred and balancing or harmonizing the two has become more overwhelming. What if we lost the either/or mentality and viewed our personal and work lives as more fluid? What if we approached our daily work lives in a way that empowers us?

In our highly connected world efficiency has often been mistaken with those long hours, immediate responses, and a litany of emails when really those tend to be littered with added distractions and in turn a steep decline in efficiency, quality work, and work life balance or harmony. As we advise efficiency is key, we do admit it is not one size fits all but likely a function of trial and error to see what truly fits, including setting boundaries, identifying non-work priorities in your life and weaving those into your day, and knowing how you thrive. Join Offit Kurman attorneys, Umar Sheikh and Faith Miros, and QBE North American Senior Counsel, Karen Kim, as they discuss the power in identifying your most efficient self, how a law firm can support those efforts, and how that makes for a more successful, happy, and well-rounded individual that better serves themselves and their clients, and thereby their firm and the profession.

The discussion will provide CLE in the Law Practice Management category (stress management).
