Description

This program shall address the shortage and availability of affordable housing in our New York City community. In New York City, affordable housing programs are challenged by issues including outdated construction codes, zoning, liability laws, high cost of land, increased costs of new construction, inequitable property tax system, and local and state policies that limit density in the city and fail to give developers any incentive to build affordable housing. The panel shall be comprised of developers and the law firms that represent them, banks involved with affordable housing financing, and government affordable housing representatives. The panel will discuss the latest NYC affordable housing projects and what it takes from start to completion, bank financing, and the availability or lack of government incentives.
